Domesticated Animals:

Note that many of the animals listed below were catalogued by the Ozymand Institute which, out of tradition, named many of them using Olde Earth Native People's Tribal Languages. the translations are listed where applicable.

Selenites: tiny orbitals, lesser sentient species related to the Stratapin, used as pets. They appear as symbiotic pyramids that hover over their owners shoulder and glow and humm/purr when they are content. Possessing the inherent ability of seeing auras, they pass on this ability to whoever they 'attach' to. This is useful for determining the nature, health and mindset of those encountered -at least those encountered with an aura they can read. (they can't read Zir, etc.) User's skill at reading auras is equal to their Perception. Selenites are as common among humons as they are with Stratapin themselves.

G.M.'s Section: Hit Points: 2 to 5. Movement Rate: 4. Perception: 9. Attack: Nil.

Defend: Feral Instincts-Parry 6. Intellect: animal to 2. Cost:15 to 100cr each.

Otohime Water Beasts: Otohime is a world in the Shining Path, renown for their Water Beasts -misnomered semi-sentient colony-mind freshwater plankton that in gestalt are able to telekinetically manipulate water to form a "body" with which they fend off predators and aerate stagnant waters. They are of a sort mildly empathic, able to pick up the mindset of nearby lifeforms to warn them of predators. Their inability to discern threats to themselves and threats of a more generalized sort has led to their being creatively used as "watchdogs" by some Sun-Tzu nobles (It is also for this reason that owners are warned to stay away from their Water Beasts in times of stress or anger!). In addition, in occasions of strong emotion, they have been known to pick up images from the minds of those nearby (there are documented cases of Water Beasts, near distraught widows or jilted lovers, taking on the form of the nearby sentients loved one.). In their natural state, Water Beasts mimic the forms of life forms sensed nearby. Many are often "programmed" via trained dancers performing for hours beside poolsides till the Water Beasts learned the forms and began emulating them. The appearance of Water Beasts tends to be continually shifting streams of water, and, due to crossbreeding in the past, they are now phosphorescent and glow and sparkle when in darkness. Water Beasts as a colony-mind life form need to have at least 1/2 their hit points to retain cohesion and group consciousness. However, they can only be effected by attacks that involve heat or cold or chemicals. Sand slows their base movement rate.

G.M.'s Section: Hit Points:5 to 25. Movement Rate:9. Perception:7. Attack: Pummel 6 to 10. Wpn Factor 2. Defend: Aquatic Maneuvers 9. Intellect: Animal. Cost: 1,000 to 100 kcr per colony.

Ketq Skwaye: (Translates as "Huron creator, grandmother toad.") Nearly sentient creatures analogous to apes of earth, but with a semi reptilian/amphibian appearance, with slick skin. They are prized pets and watchdogs, possessing long talons on their fingers and toes. They are under intense scrutiny by Imperial sophontologists, as they are the closest species physiologically to Humon found in the galaxy thus far. (the only other species that comes close is the Jingo, but they aren't bipeds, and use blood for reproduction.)

G.M.'s Section: Hit Points:10 to 20. Movement Rate: 8. Perception: 9. Attack: Claws 4 to 7. Wpn Factor 3. Defend: Feral Instincts-Parry 8. Intellect: 2+ (?). Cost: 250 to 3,000cr

Tsects: (Translates as Grandmother White Mouse, a friendly spirit.) Name for a race of tiny playful mouselike creatures that eat insects and dust (given it's high content of dead skin cells and hair.). Their mouth looks like an aardvark's snout with sticky filament tongues that it extrudes to lick up it's food. They have 2 legs and a round head/body. Known for being very clean, affectionate and playful animals, they are popular pets among starship crews.

G.M.'s Section: Hit Points:1 to 5. Movement Rate: 10. Perception: 9. Attack: nil. Defend: Feral Instincts-Dodge 9. Intellect: Animal. Cost: 0 to 5cr each

Heng: (Translates as Huron name of "thunder ") Species of two legged riding mammals, known for their "thunderous" bellows which can be heard from a mile or more away.

G.M.'s Section: Hit Points:15 to 50. Movement Rate: 11. Perception: 7. Attack: Kick 6 Wpn Factor 2, Sonic 3 Wpn Factor 6. Defend: Feral Instincts-Parry 8. Intellect:animal.

Cost: 250 to 50,000 cr -breed depending.

Wasicong (Translates as Dakota name of a protective spirit) Silver furred wolf-like creatures that bond with their owners as did the dogs of Earth. Their appearance is semi-reptilian,with slender elongated jaws, dominated by thousands of needle-sharp teeth, Ala Olde Earth's Piranha fish. It's red, metallic eyes are slightly phosphorescent in the dark, and can be seen several hundred feet away -except when hunting; a black nictating membrane slides over them to avoid their being seen by their prey. Wasicong are thought to communicate with each other at night by a pattern of exposing and covering their glowing red eyes.

G.M.'s Section: Hit Points: 10 to 30. Movement Rate: 11. Perception: 9. Attack: Claw 7 Wpn Factor 2, Bite 5 Wpn Factor 3. Note: 2 attacks per turn. Defend: Feral Instincts-Parry 9. Intellect: Animal to 3. Cost:25 to 500 cr -breed depending

Meps: Semi-sentient creatures that live in liquids and convert them to the popular beverage Mepssi. Massing less than 1lb., they have squat, four to six inch tubular bodies, with an undulating mass of hair-like tendrils ringing their top and bottom portions. Their mouths are in the centers of these rings, and strain water for sugars and other nutrients. (in the wilds, they sift for plankton and algae.) Waste products (ie. Mepssine.) are expelled through their pores. Their mugs are always transparent so they can look out to keep them happy, as they are very social creatures being pack animals. They metabolize sugar added to water into the chemical Mepssine, which mimics their innate telepathic bond to others of their kind. Those drinking it are linked telepathically in a sort of 'mind-meld' with each other. (as well as the semi-sentient Mep, which just gurgles and becomes content from the melding.) Duration of Effect: 1 hour Cost: 250cr each (mug included free.)

Melatha: (Translates as Choctaw name for the "male lightningbird") Winged species native to the Raos birthworld which has two EM generator tails in place of heads, which are used for defense. They are capable of generating a powerful electrical arc attack, as well as for use as a form of "sight" by detecting EM fields. In the wild it feeds on the nectar of giant flowers with it's retractable tongues in each tail tip, whereas in captivity they feed on a fructose solution. It's diet and gentle temperament have made it a popular pet/'watchdog' for the Sylum.

G.M.'s Section: Hit Points:5 to 15. Movement Rate: 17. Perception: 9. Attack: EM Burst 9 Wpn Factor 3. Defend: Feral Instincts-Parry 9. Intellect: Animal to 2. Cost:1,500 to 5,000cr

Aerosponge: Small barnacle like Creatures of various colors, harvested by the Sylum (originally from one of their worlds). The unusual nature of the sponges is that they use cellular level biological gravity lenses to break down molecules for food. The by-product of this is that they produce a small field of contra gravity around themselves, therefore they must anchor themselves lest they fall up into space. A patch of anchored sponges which still exceeds the pull of gravity (and thus is destined to float away) releases spores, which float down, anchor to something and then begin to generate the field. Structures buoyed by Sponges must therefore control the amounts of sponges growing on them. One option is spray cans of aerosponge spores (they will not grow or anchor till they sense both food and sufficient mass). Sponges which are removed/scraped off, separate into individuals and slowly float of into the sky (it is possible if contained, to re-anchor them, and thus reuse them.)

G.M.'s Section: Hit Points: 1. Movement Rate: Nil.. Perception: ?. Attack: Nil. Defend:Nil. Intellect: ?. Cost: 10cr per 1lb. with each lb. having a lift capacity of 10lbs.
